DEPARTMENT OF BOTANY
Brief Profile
Department of Botany was founded in 1961. It offers both undergraduate and post graduate programmes of studies, while undertaking active research in areas including plant diversity, taxonomy, agro botany, biotechnology, macrofungi and others. Biotech Hub (DBT-funded) is an active center of research. Vocationalization of education was pioneered by the department in 2008 with introduction of Floriculture which served as the model for implementation of the same scheme in 14 other government colleges in the state through RUSA.
